Meet Dr Gabriel Serrano

Doctor of dermatology and venereology.

Dr. Gabriel Serrano is one of the most prestigious dermatologists in the world. He has over 45 years of experience and has treated nearly 50,000 patients, being a pioneer in solutions for vitiligo and skin cancer. In fact, Dr. Serrano has been appointed president of the upcoming World Vitiligo Day 2024. He currently has medical clinics and skin centers in Madrid, Barcelona, Dubai, Bayahibe, and Bogotá, in addition to the first one he opened in Valencia in the late 1970s.

In 1989, he founded the Sesderma and Mediderma laboratories due to the lack of dermatological products available at the time, becoming one of the founders of modern dermocosmetics. He is also a pioneer in the use of nanotechnology in the development and manufacture of dermatological products and dietary supplements, making Sesderma one of the most innovative laboratories with a presence in over 85 countries worldwide. Today, the group includes the brands Sesderma, Mediderma, Sophieskin, and Dr. Serrano, as well as the third-party manufacturing division Dermopartners. Sesderma represents dermatological innovation dedicated to skin well-being.

His vocation emerged early in his native Colombia, where at the age of eleven he enjoyed sneaking into the family library and spending hours exploring the medical books of both his father and grandfather, who were both trained in medicine. Years later, the future doctor moved to the USA and then to Valencia, where he studied Medicine at the University of Valencia, specializing in Dermatology and Venereology, and earned his Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery cum laude. He then completed his residency at the Valencia General University Hospital, where he later served as Head of the Dermatology and Emergency Department for more than 25 years. Dr. Serrano furthered his education with postgraduate studies in Philadelphia, Charleston, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Innsbruck.

Currently, Dr. Gabriel Serrano is dedicated to research and medicine, actively participating in international congresses and forums by giving symposiums, masterclasses, and medical training. He is the author of over 400 publications in national and international scientific journals. Moreover, whenever he is in Valencia, he continues to see patients at his clinic, demonstrating his genuine passion for his work and patient care.
